Thanksgiving is a national holiday in America when there are some important things, such as turkeys, family, foot ball, and parades. Thanksgiving Day is also traditionally a day for families and friends to get together for a special meal. The meal often includes a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, pumpkin pie, and vegetables. Thanksgiving Day is a time for many people to give thanks for what they have.It has a history. In September 1620, the cargo ship of the Mayflower transports a group of passangers to the new world. They are maen, women, and children, and the total is 102 passangers.  After an uncomfortable crossing that lasted 66 days, they dropped anchor near the tip of Cape Cod, far north of their intended destination at the mouth of the Hudson River. One month later, the Mayflower crossed Massachusetts Bay, where the Pilgrims began to work when the winter come at Plymouth. Some of them were ill at that time.
When the spring came (1621), the colony became to change. The colony was visited by several loco indians. He returned with another Native American, Squanto, a member of the Pawtuxet tribe who had been kidnapped by an English sea captain and sold into slavery before escaping to London and returning to his homeland on an exploratory expedition. Squanto spoke English, and he taught the colony how to caught the fish. He also helped the settlers forge an alliance with the Wampanoag, a local tribe, which would endure for more than 50 years and tragically remains one of the sole examples of harmony between European colonists and Native Americans.
