Confessions of a Shopaholic

Confessions of a Shopaholic is adapted from Shopaholic series of novels by Sophie Kinsella. It is directed by P.J. Hogan. I love this movie because the story is very interesting and shows the trend of women’s clothes, bags, and shoes.
Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) is a shopaholic. She lives with her best friend, Suze. She works in a gardening magazine as a journalist, but her dream is work for Alette, the owner of a fashion magazine. Rebecca has a good style of fashion because she always buys many expensive things every passes the fashion stores. It makes her credit card declines. She also has much debt to Derek Smeath, a debt collector.
One day, she wants to go interview with Alette. On the way to the interview, she buys a green scarf. Unfortunately, her credit cards cannot use anymore, so Rebecca goes to hot dog stand and offers to buy all the hot dogs if the seller gives her back change in cash. The seller refuses it, but a handsome man offers her $20.
When Rebecca arrives at Alette’s office, the receptionist tells her that she cannot do an interview, but she can try to do an interview in Successful Saving Magazine. It magazine has a good relationship with Alette. Rebecca agrees about that and she goes to Successful Saving Magazine. The interviewer is Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy), who gave her the $20 at the hot dog stand. She feels surprise and cannot answer the question well.
Unfortunately, a gardening magazine was bankrupt. Rebecca must to pay her debt. She is so confuse and drinks much with Suze. Then, they write two letters to Alette and Successful Saving, but she mails each to the wrong magazine. Luke likes the letter and hires her to work in his company. Rebecca has a work assignment from Luke. Fortunately, her idea is instant success and she is called The Green Scarf Girl. She becomes a famous girl because her brilliant idea. Everyone likes her idea, also Alette. Alette asks her to do an interview in television. After that, they go to the store and buy the expensive dress. Rebecca also gets a bridesmaid dress from Suze, because Suze will get married. Unfortunately, the dress from Suze is taken by her class leader of Shopaholic Anonymous, Mrs. Krouch and she donates it. Rebecca just  can buy a dress for TV interview.
Derek Smeath attends the interview and tells all about Rebecca’s debt in front of forum. It makes Rebecca loses her job, but Alette hires her to work in her company. Rebecca refuses it. She wants to pay all of her debt and takes back her bridesmaid dress. She decides to sell all of her dresses, shoes, bags, until her green scarf. It is totally success. She pays the debt directly and barter her dress with the bridesmaid dress. She wants to accompany Suze’s wedding party.
Luke starts a new company, Brandon Communications. He meets Rebecca and returns the green scarf after revealing that person who bought it was acting as his agent. Rebecca becomes romantically involved with Luke and starts work at his new company. She is aware that shop too much is not important to do in her free time as usual as before.

The moral value of this movie is we must to manage our money for our necessary. Do not shop too much for unimportant things. We can use our money for some benefit things or activities like Rebecca. She cannot manage her money at first and always shops in her free time, but she knows that it is not her necessity. She can use her money for development of her boyfriend’s company.
